Often times fishing guides speak of a great passion they have for the sport. They live, eat, and breath fishing.  Derek Botchford exemplifies this attitude. His love of fly fishing is contagious. Derek’s instructing philosophy is based on the most respected and freshest training concepts today in flyfishing.

Mike spent 8 years as a British Columbia Lodge Manager/guide through the 90’s. Since then he’s guided and fished extensively at various international destinations over the past years, including Chile, Argentina, Alaska, Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, The Pacific Northwest, and all over British Columbia’s Skeena River region. Mike has spent the past 7 years as a camp manager/guide, and director of The Fly Shop/Wild Salmon River Expedition’s Trout and Steelhead fly fishing programs in Kamchatka.

Whether you are learning the basics of fly fishing or working on advanced
two-handed techniques, Kevin strives to instruct at the highest level in the industry.  Fly fishing has been the focus of Kevin’s life for as long as he can remember.   Outside of Kevin’s wealth of knowledge and experience, he brings a genuine enthusiasm fueled by his deep passion for fly fishing.

He is a technician when it comes to finding steelhead on the Bulkley and Morice rivers. Constantly changing his methods to match the conditions. His knowledge comes from experience. He has been a key ingredient to the success of Frontier farwest fishing lodge for many years, and will anchor the staff for years to come. He has quickly become one of the most respected guides in the region.

Many things have changed over the past 20 years on the Bulkley River. One thing that has remained consistent is seeing Kelly Hassell rowing his drift boat with smiling, fulfilled clients. From the beginner to the expert fisherman Kelly will help develop your abilities. Few fisherman have ever tailed as many steelhead as this veteran guide. Kelly is an exceptional, skilled guide that is second to none in the industry. Kelly will be guiding part time for the Frontier Farwest team in 2008 and hosting specific weeks in 2009.
